Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans

The SBA offers three basic types of low-interest loans to help individuals and/or businesses recover from a declared disaster:

Prospective borrowers must complete and submit an SBA loan application, which consists of the following:

  • Disaster Business Loan Application (SBA Form 5): The basic disaster loan application. | PDF file/1.0MB
  • Tax Information Authorization (IRS Form 8821): Authorization for the SBA to obtain your tax return information from the IRS. | PDF file/275k
  • Personal Financial Statement (SBA Form 413): A balance sheet (current to within the last 90 days). | PDF file/165k
  • Schedule of Liabilities (SBA Form 2202): A supplement to the balance
    sheet. | PDF file/246k
  • Supplemental Information (SBA Form 1368): Required only from those applying for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). | PDF file/119k
  • Visit the SBA Web site to learn more.

When you have completed your application, you may drop it off at any of the SBA's disaster recovery centers, or mail it to:

U.S. Small Business Administration
Processing and Disbursement Center
14925 Kingsport Rd.
Ft. Worth , TX 76155-2243

SBA usually will give you an approval or decline decision within three weeks after receiving a completed loan application. An SBA loss verifier will make an appointment with you to inspect your disaster-damaged property and to make an estimate of the cost to fully repair or replace your damaged property.

To obtain general program information or to receive a status update on your disaster loan request, call the SBA's customer service line:

SBA Loan Counselors
Times: 6am–11pm, seven days a week
Phone: 800-659-2955 or (TTY) 800-877-8339
E-mail: disastercustomerservice@sba.gov

You can also speak with an SBA loan counselor in person at one of the SBA's locally based disaster recovery centers. To locate a disaster recovery center in your area, visit www.sba.gov/disaster_recov/disaster-office-locations.html.
